F&C [ 2006 - 2005 - 2004 - 2003 - 2002 - 2001 - 2000 - 1999 ]

The new F&C was created following the completion of the sale of Foreign & Colonial Management to Eureko BV and the subsequent combination of Eureko's asset management activities under the F&C brand. We manage over 100 billion in European sourced assets. F&C traces its origins to 1868 when the world's first global investment fund was established in London to help the average citizen invest in places 'foreign & colonial'. This flagship fund - the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, is still going strong and the asset management company it created is one of the UK's leading investment management houses. Eureko BV is a leading pan-European financial services group backed by one of the Netherlands' leading insurers and Portugal's dominant banking group, each with an enviable position in its domestic investment management market. Now, through Eureko, these activities have been integrated with Foreign & Colonial to create a new money management powerhouse.

1. Calculation by F&C Management Limited, based on mid-market prices, allowing for notional deduction of 3.5 per cent on reinvested income to cover transaction costs and the market's spread. Past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future. Prices and income may go down as well as up. Investors may not get back the full amount invested, especially in the short term.

Leading market positions
Across Europe, F&C enjoys leading positions in a number of key markets.
We made our first investment in Germany in 1881. More recently, Foreign & Colonial's 11 year partnership with HypoVereinsbank has given F&C a unique insight into designing and distributing products for the German marketplace. We currently manage over 40 retail funds specifically tailored for German investors and serve a rapidly growing list of German institutional clients. F&C is, without question, the most experienced international adviser to the expanding German market.
We made our first investment in the Netherlands in 1930 (we bought stock in Philips - and still hold it). Now, through the integration of Achmea Global Investors and in partnership with the Achmea Group, F&C is one of the largest pension providers in the country and a major force in the management of industry-wide schemes.
We made our first investment in Portugal in 1868. Now, in partnership with BCP Group/AF Investimentos, F&C is the leading adviser to Portuguese mutual and pension funds.
In the UK, the company pioneered the investment trust (closed-end fund) and remains a market leader to this day. We are also a leading manager of UK pension monies and a provider of investment services to over 250,000 domestic retail clients.
Global product, local service
The new F&C aspires to set new standards of customer service in the European asset management industry.
By bringing together leading asset management businesses in the UK, Netherlands and Portugal, F&C can offer an unrivalled combination of global product expertise and local market knowledge. Add to this our long standing partnership with HypoVereinsbank and our role as money manager to the Eureko pan-European insurance group, and an unparalleled distribution in the heart of Europe takes shape.
Our clients will benefit not only from the same high standards of service as before, but will also gain access to a wider choice of investment products and greater investment management expertise in key European asset classes.
Investment is all we do; we offer a comprehensive range of products to both retail and institutional investors across Europe.
